Kolkata, July 21 (IBNS): Low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa Air Arabia has won the 'Airline Business Award' at the Airline Strategy Awards 2014.

Ali received the award in recognition of Air Arabia’s commitment to offer high-quality, low-cost travel solutions to passengers in the Arab world and beyond.

Ali, who collected the Airline Business Award at an exclusive reception in London, was recognised for successfully developing Air Arabia’s expanding business model and for making a lasting strategic contribution to the global aviation industry through strong leadership. As a result of its route expansion strategy, Air Arabia flew more than 6.1 million passengers in 2013, a 15 per cent increase on the preceding year, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the winning the Award, Adel Ali, Group Chief Executive at Air Arabia, said: “Such recognitions are a true reflection to the collective success the Air Arabia team achieve every year and I am extremely honoured to have been chosen by experts and peers in the aviation industry for the Airline Business Award 2014. This award is also a further recognition of the positive impact Air Arabia has had on air travel across the Middle East, as we seek to make flying affordable for everyone.”

Max Kingsley-Jones, Editor of Airline Business, said: “Over the last decade, Ali has established Air Arabia across the Gulf with its innovative multi-hub network, bringing low-cost air travel to a new group of travellers. In doing so, Ali has navigated many challenges and established Air Arabia as a profitable business and the region’s leading low-cost carrier.”

The Airline Strategy Awards, organised by Airline Business magazine, was established in 2002 to recognise the aviation industry’s highest achievers in boardroom leadership. The 2014 winners were selected by an independent panel of highly respected industry professionals, including sector analysts and former airline chief executives.
