Mumbai: Adani Power Ltd. has awarded a Letter of Award (LoA) to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the supply and commissioning of six 800 MW thermal units, as per a stock exchange filing dated June 27.

Under the contract, the public sector engineering firm will provide equipment and oversee the erection and commissioning of the thermal power units.

The LoA covers the supply of steam turbine generators along with necessary auxiliaries and supervisory services for the thermal installations.

The value of the contract is pegged at approximately ₹6,500 crore.

On the NSE, shares of BHEL closed at ₹263.45, down 0.38% from the previous session, while Adani Power’s stock ended 1.06% higher at ₹584.25.

Separately, BHEL reported a 3% increase in its consolidated net profit for the March quarter, reaching ₹504.45 crore, compared to ₹489.62 crore in the same period a year ago.

The uptick was attributed mainly to improved revenues from its industry segment.

The company’s total income for the quarter rose to ₹9,142.64 crore from ₹8,416.84 crore in the year-ago quarter.
