Vaishnaw further stated that significant progress has been made regarding the establishment of the Micron semiconductor plant in Gujarat. This includes the allocation of land, completion of factory design work, and reaching agreements related to tax compliance.

The minister said that the first Made-in-India chip from Micron is expected to come out in about six quarters from now, said the report.

American chip maker Micron Technology announced on June 22 that it would invest up to $825 million in a new chip assembly and test facility in Gujarat. It will be the company's first factory in the country.

Micron Technology, an American chip maker, has announced its plans to invest up to $825 million in a new chip assembly and test facility in Gujarat, marking its first factory in India.

With support from the Central government and the Gujarat state government, the total investment in the facility will amount to $2.75 billion.

Construction of the facility is expected to commence in 2023, with the first phase becoming operational by late 2024.
