Fuel prices remain static for fifth day

| @indiablooms | Nov 08, 2021, at 08:46 pm

New DelhiUNI: Fuel prices remained unchanged for the fifth consecutive day on Monday.

The fuel prices had come down sharply last week after the Centre announced reduction in excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively.

A litre of petrol costs Rs 103.97 in New Delhi, Rs 104.67 in Kolkata, Rs 109.98 in Mumbai and Rs 101.40 in Chennai.

Similarly, a litre of diesel costs Rs 86.67 in New Delhi, Rs 94.14 in Mumbai, Rs 89.79 in Kolkata and Rs 91.43 in Chennai.

Prices of diesel and petrol were rising for the last few days across the southeast Asian nation, breaching all previous records.

Global upsurge in crude oil prices had led to the proliferation in fuel prices in the domestic market.

After the Centre's relaxation, some states and union territories undertook reduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel, providing further relief to the common man.

However, some states are yet to undertake any reduction of VAT on petrol and diesel.
