New Delhi/IBNS: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey 2021-22 on Monday, a day before the Union Budget.

Tomorrow at 3.45 pm, Chief Economic Advisor Dr V Anantha Nageswaran will address a press conference discussing the Economic Survey 2021-22.

Economic Survey is an annual report card of a country's economy and throws light on the performance of each and every sector and then suggests future moves.

It was presented in the year 1950-51. From 1964, the government started to release the survey a day before the Union Budget is presented.

It also puts forward a GDP growth projection.

Economic Survey 2021-22 is expected to project growth of around 9 percent for the next financial year, according to reports.

Economic Survey usually has two parts -- Volume 1 and Volume 2.

The first volume comprises policy advisories which may not be present this year. The 2nd volume contains a sectoral analysis of the economy.

It is an important document for anyone who wants to analyse the economy's performance and understand where it is headed.

All Economic Surveys are available at https://www.indiabudget.gov.in/economicsurvey/.

One can also buy last year's economic survey, here.

Economic Surveys are presented with a theme. Last year, the theme was "saving lives and livelihoods".

In 2017-18, the Economic Survey was in pink as the theme was women empowerment.

It is not mandatory for the government to present the Economic Survey and the government is not bound to implement the recommendations  in the first volume.
