India goes cashless like never before! UPI records highest-ever single-day transactions on Oct 18, over 20 billion payments in just one month

New Delhi/IBNS: India's flagship real time payment system Unified Payment Interface (UPI) has recorded 20.70 billion transactions in October, in a big jump from 19.63 billion which was registered in September, media reports said.

As per the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) data, the total transactions worth Rs. 27.28 crore in October.

Earlier in September, the amount was Rs. 24.90 lakh. In August, the transactions were valued at Rs. 24.85 lakh.

Annually, the transaction count has shot up by 25 percent while the transaction value has soared by 16 percent.

In a separate record, October 18 recorded the highest ever daily count with 754.37 million transactions.

In October, the average daily transactions conducted were 668 million valued at Rs. 87,993 crore as opposed to 654 million valued at Rs. 82,991 crore which were recorded in September.

In another record, the transaction by users during the festive season- Dussehra to Diwali- recorded at Rs. 17.8 lakh crore in October as opposed to Rs. 15.1 lakh crore recorded last year.
