Mumbai/IBNS: Indian market started in red as early trade showed Sensex opening 3.79 percent lower at 37,011 on Friday.

It is the lowest figure in six months.

The 50-share NSE Nifty index also showed 3.92 percent low figures at 10,827.

The market opened in red a day after the government on Thursday imposed a withdrawal limit of Rs 50,000 for depositors of the beleaguered private bank Yes Bank.

A notification, issued by the finance ministry on Thursday evening, said the limit will stay in effect till April 3, 2020.

The restriction has been imposed as a part of an order of moratorium issued by the government which also stayed the "commencement or continuance of all actions and proceedings" against the bank.
