Indian Market: Sensex closes at 69,653.73 pts

Extending rally for the third straight session on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex ended at a new peak at 69,653.73, up 357.59 pts following gains in Power, Utilities, Oil and Gas and IT stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 82.60 pts at 20,937.70.

The Sensex gained 238 pts at 69,534 in opening session. It was spurted 448 pts at 69,744.62 days high, before closing at 69,653.73 up 357.59 pts from its previous close.

The NSE posted days high and low at 20,961.95 and 20,852.15 pts respectively.

The stocks include, Utilities, Power, Oil and Gas and IT kept winning streak intact today. Power went up by 2.41 pc followed by Utilities by 3 pc, Oil and Gas by 1.96 pc and IT by 1.46 pc.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.19 pc and Small Cap by 0.18 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The gainers were Wipro by 3.85 pc to Rs 419.85, ITC by 2.51 pc to Rs 463, TCS by 2.13 pc to Rs 3605, L& T by 2.11 pc to Rs 3385.15 and Tata Motors by 1.93 pc to Rs 722.

The losers were NTPC by 1.58 pc to Rs 281, Axis Bank by 1.16 pc to Rs 1119, ICICI Bank by 1.10 pc to by 1002 and Ultracemco by 1.04 pc to Rs 9229.95.
