Indian Market: Sensex down 254.33 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday further lost 254.33 pts to settle at 59,413.27 as selling pressure was seen in Bankex, Finance, Auto and Capital Goods stocks amid weak Asian Market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 37.30 pts to 17,711.30.

The Sensex slid by 371 pts to 59,296.54 in opening session.

During the day it tumbled down nearly 444 pts to 59,111.41, days low before closing at 59,413.27, down 254.33 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 59,678.66 and 59,111.30 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,781.75 and 17,608.15 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Finance, Auto, Bankex and Capital Goods dragged the market further.

In scrips, main draggers were HDFC, Ultracemco, Asian Paints, Kotak Bank and HDFC Bank.

However, buying in NTPC, Powergrid, Sun Pharma and SBI restricted from further losses, broker said.

The Mid Cap rose. 0.62 pc and Small Cap by 0.40 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.
