Indian Market: Sensex down 740.19 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday dropped 740.19 pts to settle at 48,440.12 because of heavy selling in Telecom, Power, Auto and Energy stocks.

The Nifty too fell by 224.50 pts to 14,324.90.

The sensex registered days high and low at 49,247.95 and 48,236.35 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,575.60 and 14,264.40 pts respectively.
