Indian Market: Sensex ends weak

Mumbai/UNI:  The BSE index of the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday drifted lower by 51.88 pts to settle at 38,365.35 as selling was witnessed in Telecom, Industrials, Realty and Metal stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange(NSE) too eased by 37.70 pts to close at 11,317.35 pts.

The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 11,437.25 and 11,290.45 pts respectively.
The Sensex registered the days high and low at 38,746.48 and 38,275.45 pts respectively.

The equity market remained volatile, as the Sensex opened higher at 38,498.07, rising by 81 pts. It surged by 329 pts to reach 38,746.48, the days high.

Later, it fell nearly 143 pts to reach 38,275.45, the days low, before closing at 38,365.35, down by 51.88 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices dragged the market down were Telecom, Industrials, Realty, Metal and Materials.

In scrips, Tata Steel, Bhart Airtel, Axis Bank, ONGC and SBI eased while buying in HCL Technologies, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra and TCS capped from further losses, the broker said.

The Mid Cap fell by 1.49 per cent and the Small Cap by 0.83 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 22 declined while 8 advanced.
