Indian Market: Sensex rises 89.13 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday rose 89.13 points at 58,387.93 following gains in technology, telecom, realty and materials stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up 15.50 points at 17,397.50.

The RBI Monetary Policy on Friday hiked the Repo Rate by 50 basis points to 5.40 per cent.

The Sensex jumped 133 points to open at 58,421.04. It rallied by 351 points at 58,649.19, the day's high, before closing at 58,387.93, up by 89.13 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 58,649.19 and 58,244.86 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded the day's high and low at 17,474 and 17,348 respectively.
Sectoral indices like telecom, realty, technology and realty pushed up the market.

In scrips, Ultracemco was a major gainer, up by 2.31 per cent to Rs 6,744.30 followed by ICICI Bank by 2.06 per cent to Rs 836.75, Bharti Airtel by 1.30 per cent to Rs 703 and Infosys by 1.02 per cent to Rs 1,616.

The losers were M&M by 2.06 per cent to Rs 1,235.90, Reliance Industries by 1.53 per cent to Rs 2,352, Maruti Suzuki by 1.33 per cent to Rs 8,851.35 and IndusInd Bank by 1.06 per cent to Rs 1,038.95.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.09 per cent and Small Cap by 0.23 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
