Indian Market: Sensex slides 562.34 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Extending losses for the fourth consecutive session, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday tumbled down 562.34 pts to settle at 49,801.62 as selling was seen across the board amid weak Asian market.

The Nifty too fell by 189.15 pts to 14,721.30.

High volatility was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex rose by 73 pts to open at 50,436.02. It advanced by 198 pts to 50,561.12, days high.

Later, it was nosedived nearly 645 pts to 49,718.65, days low before closing at 49,801.62, sliding by 562.34 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 50,561.12 and 49,718.65 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,956.55 and 14,696.05 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices that fell were Oil and Gas, Power, Realty, Utilities and Health Care stocks.

The scrips that declined were ONGC, NTPC, Sun Pharma, SBI and IndusInd Bank.

The Mid Cap fell by 2.20 pc and Small Cap by 2.12 pc.

In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined.
