Indian Market: Sensex still on top, opens at 70,804.13 pts

The BSE Sensex remained on top on Friday too, as it opened at 70,804.13, advancing 290 pts on the strength of Metal, Oil and Gas and Energy stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) was up 58.30 pts at 21,241.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 70,853.56 and 70,655.97 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 21,298.15 and 21,235.30 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap gained 0.21 pc and Small Cap by 0.64 pc.

The gainers were JSW Steel by 1.97 pc to Rs 864.45, Infosys by 1.96 pc to Rs 1530.60, Tata Steel by 1.40 pc to Rs 133.85, HCL Technology by 0.83 pc to Rs 1425.35 and Pharma by 0.62 pc to Rs 1239.15.

The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 1.20 pc to Rs 24,495, Axis Bank by 0.79 pc to Rs 1111.40, Kotak Bank by 0.46 pc to Rs 1844.80, Bajaj Finserv by 0.21 pc to Rs 1727.35 and Bajaj finance by 0.14 pc to Rs 7457.
