Indian Market: Sensex surges by 112.77 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Extending gains for the third consecutive session on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rallied by 112.77 pts at 40,544.37 at close on the strength of Realty, IT, Telecom and Technology stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange too rose 23.75 pts to close at 11,896.80.

Though oscillation was seen during the day, the equity market ended in green only.
The Sensex opened weak at 40,420.29, fell by 11 points. It dropped 126 pts to reach 40,305.59, the days low.

Later, it was jumped nearly 301 pts to reach 40,732.01, the days high, before closing at 40,544.37, advancing by 112.77 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 40,732.01 and 40,305.59 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,949.25 and 11,837.25 pts respectively.

Sectoral indices like IT, Realty, Telecom and Technology kept the rally intact while selling in Power, Oil and Gas, Energy and Utilities capped further gains, broker informed.

In scrips, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Adian Paints, Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank moved up while ONGC, Powergrid, NTPC and Reliance Industries dropped.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.47 percent and Small Cap by 0.30 percent.

In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
