India's domestic passenger car sales rise in December 2015
New Delhi, Jan 11 (IBNS) In December 2015, India's domestic passenger car sales went up to 1,72,671 units from 1,52,986 units sold in the same month a year ago but two-wheeler sales declined 11,67,633 units from 12,04,942 units at the same time.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has just released the sales figures for December 2015.
New launches and year-end discounts boosted passenger car sales according to experts.
Commercial vehicle sales went up to 56,840 units in December 2015 during the same period.
Motorcycle sales declined to 7,24,807 units in December from 7,70,519 units a year ago largely due to low demand from the rural sector.
The sale of motor vehicles is said to be one of the key indicators of consumer spending and hence a key to the health of the economy.
