India's exports rise by 5.37 pc in January

New Delhi/UNI: The country's exports grew 5.37 per cent year-on-year to 27.24 billion dollars in January 2021, mainly driven by demand of cereals and iron ore, compared to 25.85 billion dollars in the corresponding period last year.

As per provisional data of the commerce ministry on Tuesday, in the current financial year till January, exports were down 13.66 per cent to 228.04 billion dollars, against 264.13 billion dollars last year.

Imports during January, 2021 were up 2 per cent to 41.99 billion dollars, leaving a trade deficit of 14.75 billion dollars, against 15.30 billion dollars during corresponding period last year.

During April 2020 to January 2021, exports declined 25.92 per cent to 300.26 billion dollars, while from April 2019 to January 2020, it was 405.33 per cent.
