Isuzu Motors India opens its first dealership outlet in eastern India

Kolkata, June 10 (IBNS) Isuzu Motors India opened its dealership outlet in Kolkata on Wednesday, the first in Eastern India.


‘Mohanmotor Isuzu’ is a joint venture between Japanese automobile giant Isuzu and Kolkata based car dealer Mohan Motors.

Shigeru Wakabayashi, Deputy Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India and Sandip Bajaj, Dealer Principal, Mohanmotor Isuzu inaugurated the Rajarhat outlet.

Wakabayashi said, “We are extremely happy to be here in Kolkata as we are progressing rapidly in terms of our network expansion. With our presence in Kolkata, we will provide customers in the East unique advantages of our product portfolio that will help them invigorate their businesses.”

“We are happy to be partnering with Mohan Motors, as they are well known for their customer-oriented approach.” Wakabayashi said about the partnership.

Wakabayashi also unveiled the Isuzu D-Max, a pick-up truck that will hit the markets within a few days. The Isuzu D-Max will also be available in two other variants, Cab-chassis variant and A/C variant.

Shankar Srinivas, Senior General Manager, Isuzu Motors India said, “Our factory in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh will be ready by April 2016. Presently we have 21 outlets (in India) and (we) are looking to have 60 outlets by 2016.”

Gaurav Bajaj of Mohan Motors said, “It gives me immense pleasure to announce the Isuzu-Mohan Motors dealership. We are very confident about the brand. The pick-up market of West Bengal is approximately a 200 car market and we are looking forward to cater to their needs.”

The D-Max Pick-up truck is priced at 6-7 lakh Indian Rupees.

The century old Japanese company will also be launching Isuzu MU-7, their variant of SUV.

When quizzed about their biggest competitor in the SUV market, Wakabayashi told IBNS: “Toyota Fortuner is our biggest competition.”

Isuzu is the oldest Japanese automobile company having started its operations in Japan in the year 1916.
