Srinagar, June 16 (IBNS) The Army on Thursday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing four militants in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“Four militants have been killed in an ongoing operation and one army jawan lost his life,” a defence official said.

He said an army soldier, who was injured today morning in the gunfight, succumbed to injuries at 92 base hospital here in Srinagar

Pertinently, a militant and a soldier on Wednesday were killed while as at least five troopers were injured in a gunfight between government forces and a group of infiltrators at Machhil sector in the frontier district.

This is the second major infiltration attempts in the Kupwara region in the last three days.
