Market closes higher on Friday after ending lower for two previous sessions

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IBNS): After two successive sessions in decline, the Indian benchmark indices jumped back to positive territory on Friday, with BSE Sensex up 87.53 points at 32,325.41 and NSE Nifty up 52.75 points at 10,066.40.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, headed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, will meet on Saturday to review representations from the industry regarding revision of rates and focus on changing tax rate of agriculture and agricultural services such as warehousing and garment job works.

Top gainers on Friday included Hero Motocrop, Coal India, BPCL, Vedanta, Tata Steel, NTPC, Eicher Motors and HUL while Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, Tata Power, Reliance, Bharti Airtel and BHEL declined.
