Maruti Suzuki launches its premium hatchback Baleno globally

Kolkata, October 27 (IBNS): With barely few days to go before Diwali, car producer Maruti Suzuki India on Monday globally launched its premium hatchback Baleno to penetrate into the hatchback market segment in India, at a starting price of Rs 5.24 lakh for the petrol version.

The top-end diesel variant will cost Rs 8.44 lakh.

The petrol version of the car are priced between Rs 5.24lakh and Rs 7.31 lakh while the diesel version are priced in the range Rs 6.44 lakh to Rs 8.44 lakh. The new Baleno also comes with a petrol automatic variant, featuring continuously variable transmission (CVT), is priced at Rs 7.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Kolktata).

The new hatchback has 4 trim levels, Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Baleno has 7 colour options like Ray Blue, Fire Red, Premium Silver, Autumn Orange, Premium Urban Blue, Pearl Arctic White, and Granite Gray.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno include a 1.2-litre VVT petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel with 5-speed manual (petrol and diesel). The petrol engine has the same version of engine as in the Swift.

The new hatchback car of Maruti Suzuki is the first car to offer Apple Carplay. Apple Carplay offers the bestincar experience for iPhone users and lets the driver control all the multimedia functions via voice command. Multi information speedometer display (4.2” color), circular display and high-contrast LCD panels, , the multi information speedometer display (with colour TFT) available only on Zeta and Alpha only makes the interior of the car more attractive.

Maruti Suzuki India had discontinued the manufacturing of the sedan Baleno in 2006 and it was later replaced by SX4.

According to a statement issued by the company, the company and its suppliers have invested Rs. 1,060 crores towards developing this model.

Speaking at the launch Sanjeev Handa, Vice President, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki: “Kolkata has been a very important market for us. We are simultaneously launching the all new Baleno today in Mumbai and Delhi. Baleno was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show last month. Baleno will cater to the needs of customers not only in India but also in the global market as well, we look forward to give our customers anext level NEXA experience and that is going to be a game changer.” 

“Baleno is probably the best designed premium hatchback today. Baleno comes with a powerful fuel efficient engine to provide a thrilling experience to the driver,” Handa added.

The company will start exporting its new hatchback to more than 100 countries.

“From January onwards we are expecting to export 30,000 plus Baleno’s  to Europe, Latin America and for the very first time to Japan,” said Handa.
