New Delhi, Apr 16 (IBNS) On the occasion of its 50th Anniversary of operations internationally, METRO Cash & Carry has launched an innovative new initiative that salutes the spirit of entrepreneurship in small and medium businesses across the country.

Through the METRO Community Stars Awards 2014 contest, METRO intends to recognise independent entrepreneurs who have nurtured creative ideas efficiently and profitably, and are serving as an inspiration to their community.

METRO Cash & Carry invites independent businesses to apply for the METRO Community Stars Awards 2014 by filling in an application on the website www.metro.co.in, with details of their businesses as well as pictures and videos, if any.  Entrepreneurs can also approach their neighbourhood METRO wholesale outlet or contact the local METRO Sales Force for details and assistance.

To choose the winning METRO Community Stars 2014, the Company will invite votes for the most aspiring story shared by the entrepreneurs, after which a special jury will decide the final three winners of the title.  The contest starts from 1st May and will last till 31st June ’14.

The top three applications will be selected by a prominent jury and will win attractive prizes of Rs. 1,00,000, Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively, at a glittering event in July 2014.  Outstanding entrepreneurs who participate in this contest will be acknowledged on a global platform, and receive opportunities to enhance their businesses.  The METRO Community Stars Awards 2014 is not limited to METRO Cash & Carry customers.

The METRO Community Stars Awards 2014 contest has been initiated to honour the business acumen, innovation and drive displayed by independent businesses, which often serve as a role model for others.   Rajeev Bakshi, Managing Director, METRO Cash and Carry India expressed his confidence that this initiative from METRO would underscore the Company’s commitment to help small businesses grow and flourish.  He said “The METRO Community Stars Awards 2014 are a platform for us to champion the cause of independent businesses, and salute their entrepreneurial acumen and spirit.  This is our way of deepening the relationships of trust and reliability that we have built within the business community, and contributing to their prosperity.”
