Metro Railway asks for suggestions from media for 2016-17 railway budget

Kolkata, Jan 19 (IBNS) General Manager of Kolkata's Metro Railway A K Kapoor on Tuesday invited inputs from media as asked by the Railway Mininister Suresh Prabhu for the 2016-17 railway budget.

While hearing to the suggestions of media, Kapoor hinted at differential pricing of tickets for peak and off-peak hours and self-recharging system of smart cards in future.

He also spoke in length on the incorporation of 84 new coaches from China for which nearly Rs 800 crores have been spent, discarding the old ones by next year.

The suggestions from media included more budgetary allocation towards cleanliness of coaches as well as manning of metro stations, interactive way of communication, more clear announcement system inside coaches, more deployment of RPF forces in stations,extension of last train timing, more deployment of lady police forces, cafes in metro stations in non-ticketing areas, mobile connections made available inside tunnels, energy-efficient rakes, separate channel for train information system, inter-connection of last train timing between Metro Railway and Eastern Railway and the like.

The suggestions were then incorporated in pen and ink for sending them to the Railway Ministry as asked by the Railway Minister.
