Nifty crosses 10,000 mark for the first time

Mumbai, Jul 26 (IBNS): At the end of business on Wednesday, officials merrily rang the closing bell at the National Stock Exchange to commemorate a milestone achieved by Nifty.

On Tuesday, the NSE Nifty could not hold on to its record achievement of crossing the 10,000 mark but on Wednesday, it finished for the first time ever, at 10020.65, up 56.10 points.

BSE Sensex closed up 154.19 points at 32382.46.

Key gainers on Wednesday included Tata Steel, Yes Bank, Vedanta, Sun Pharma, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, M&M and Cipla while Axis Bank, Idea Cellular, Asian Paints, Zee Entertainment, BHEL, TCS, ACC and Bharti Airtel declined.
