Rail Budget promises new infrastructure creation: ICC

| | Feb 26, 2016, at 12:32 am
Kolkata, Feb 25 (IBNS) : The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on Thursday said the Railway Budget 2016-17, presented by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, was a pro-growth budget which addresses India’s development concerns through a well structured multi-pronged strategy.

"While the focus is squarely on improving connectivity and physical infrastructure for the country, soft interventions have been awarded priority in terms of customer facilitation. Taking note of the wide array of customers the Indian Railways caters to, the budget has wisely gone for market segmentation for passenger amenities on the basis of ‘ability to pay’ approach, while widening the bouquet of current services being provided to all. Special emphasis has been provided to the needs of the women and senior citizens," the ICC said in a stratement.

" The Railway Budget 2016-17 has also awarded due focus on the creation of freight corridors and has opted for decentralization of decision making at the state level, to expedite development of backward areas in the country. True to the spirit of an energetic overhaul, in sync with the Prime Ministerial commitment on boosting employability, productivity and digitization in the country, the The Hon’ble Railway Minister has singled out his priorities for the Railway Budget in 3 Rs as 'restructure, reorgranise & rejuvenate'," it said.
