Sadhan Pandey to parley for East India petro dealers with central ministry
"I have been receiving complaints from the West Bengal Petroleum Dealers' Association (WBPDA) on the high handedness and stubbornness of the oil companies. This atmosphere of non-cooperation is hurting their business. If this continues for a long time and they see their business is not profitable they will close down the pump. I will write to the petroleum minister urging him to talk to the oil companies in this matter," Pandey said at the convention of the Eastern India Petroleum Delears' Association here on Sunday.
He further added that since the oil companies have their registered transporters through whom they supply oil they should keep a flow meter at the pumps to see that the exact amount reaches the pump as somewhere between the terminal and the pumps oil seems to disappear from the tanks. "So a dealer who has spent lakhs for a tanker does not get the amount of oil he should. This is very distressing," he said.
Pandey has asked the WBPDA to give a detailed report to his office after which he will hold a tripartite meeting that will also involve the oil companies and the transporters. He said if necessary he would involve the local administration to give credence to the whole affair.
"Following this i will write to the petroleum ministry stating the grievances and also seek if it is possible to have a flat commission rate for Eastern India," he added. Usually commissions for dealers vary from state to state depending on freight charges and taxation.
The WBPDA had recently announced an indefinite 'no-purchase' agitation at three oil terminals to protest against hostile and stressful condition under which they have been operating. The agitation at Mourigram, Budge Budge and Haldia oil terminals had rendered a sizeable part of West Bengal including Kolkata dry in terms of vehicle fuel. It was lifted after assurance from the state government to look into the matter.
Chairman All India Petroleum Dealers Association (AIPDA) Prabhakar Reddy, President AIPDA Ajay Bansal, and representatives from Odhisa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, Tripura and N East were present on the occasion. WBPDA office bearers Tushar Kanti Sen (President) Saradindu Pal (General Secretary), Arun Singhania (Jt-Secretary) were other speakers at the convention.
