SAIL despatch first consignment of products USM of IISCO Steel Plant
Burnpur, Aug 31 (IBNS): The first consignment of product of the state-of-the-art USM (Universal Section Mill) of SAIL's modernized IISCO Steel Plant was flagged off from Burnpur for dispatch on the afternoon of Sunday thereby heralded a new era in structural rolling of long products in the country.
This first of its kind USM in SAIL and country is equipped to produce Parallel Flange Beam of 240mm to 750mm, Universal Beams of 200mm to 450mm, Channels of 200mm to 400mm, Equal Angles of 150mm and 200mm well as Z & U Special Sections as per the global requirements.
The first consignment comprising of Narrow Parallel Flange Beams (IPE300/NPB300) for a project customer in Kolkata are preferred in construction of high span bridges and structural fabrication on account of cost saving of upto twenty percent in steel material as well as better metallurgical strength.

Accruing very high NSR (Net Sales Realization) to the Company, there is a massive demand for these products because of their smaller sizes and weights as compared to older heavier sections.
These products from USM of ISP are in alignment with our Prime Minister’s pursuit to revitalize India by ushering in an era of massive infrastructure development all around. Recently on May 10, he had dedicated the modernized and expanded IISCO Steel Plant to the nation.

The Plant not only tripled its hot metal capacity from 0.85 to 2.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) but also ushered in a new era of green and high quality steelmaking. Soon after the stabilization of its new and modernized units, ISP is fast catering to the needs of both national and international customers with its quality products.
