SAIL sweeps CII Exim Bank Award for Business Excellence

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IBNS): SAIL plants were awarded with CII-EXIM Bank Award for Business Excellence during the Business Excellence Awards Nite organised at Bengaluru, recently.

SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant bagged the first prize for exceptional business excellence initiatives.

Chief Minister of Karnataka S. Siddaramaiah who was the Chief Guest on the occasion presented the awards.

Congratulating the Award winners, Chief Minister of Karnataka, said, “All the Award winners have done the country proud and are the brand ambassadors of Business Excellence.”

The CM awarded three other SAIL steel plants with Commendation Award for Significant Achievement these comprise Durgapur Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant and Rourkela Steel Plant.

It is significant that all participating Plants from SAIL registered a score of more than 500 and SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant received the top prize.

The CII-EXIM Bank Award in India is based on an accepted excellence model. CII has been promoting the Excellence Framework over two decades towards building organisational excellence.

The Excellence Model encompasses all aspects of managing the business viz., Leadership, Strategy, People, Partnerships & Resources, Processes, Products & Services and Performance and provides an integrated management framework for assessment.

This recognition is based on International benchmarks and is a rigorous and transparent procedure, creating opportunities to benchmark against other organisations. The score range between 400 – 499 (out of 1000) in the award leads to Recognition in the form of “Commendation Award for Strong Commitment to Excel” and 500+ leads to “Commendation Award for Significant Achievement”. PRIZE is given for 600+ score for “Excellence in the Management of Quality”.
