Sensex jumps over 600 pts, Nifty reaches 17,000 mark; Kotak Bank gains by 3.35%

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday rallied 621 pts at 57,368.33 in the opening session, as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose by 183.65 pts at 17,095.90.

RBI will announce its monetary policy on Wednesday.

Slumping 949 pts on Monday, the BSE Sensex bounced back in early trade Tuesday.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 57,392.46 and 56,992.27 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 17,105.20 and 16,987.75, respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.75 pc and Small Cap by 0.85 pc.

In 30 scrips, 28 advanced while 2 declined.

The gainers were Kotak Bank by 3.35 pc to Rs 1,949.40, Axis Bank by 2.51 pc to Rs 679.95, Tata Steel by 2.43 pc to Rs 1,135.95, HDFC by 1.77 pc to Rs 2816.50 and SBI by 1.69 pc to Rs 473.20.

The losers were Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.75 pc to Rs 4,469 and Tech Mahindra by 0.26 pc to Rs 1,548.
