Sensex plunges by 800 points; NIFTY close to 10,600

Mumbai, Oct 4 (IBNS): The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex on Thursday plunged by 800 points with NIFTY falling over 200 points.

The Sensex now reads 35191.9 points.

The NIFTY is trading around 10,600 points.

The fall in the BSE is occurring at a time the value of Indian currency is sliding on a daily basis.

The Indian currency on Thursday remained bearish, hitting an all-time low of Rs. 73.77 corresponding to one US dollar.  

On Wednesday, the value of one rupee was Rs. 73.34 per one US dollar.
