Sensex zooms 847.27 pts, touches record-high on the strength of IT, Technology, Oil and Gas and Energy stocks

Extending rally for the fourth consecutive session on Friday, the BSE Sensex zoomed 847.27 pts to close at 72,568.45 on the strength of IT, Technology, Oil and Gas and Energy stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 247.35 28.50 pts at 21,894.55.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,928.25 and 21,715.15 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened higher at 71,721, surging 427 pts. During the day it was spurted 1049 pts at 72,720.96, days high, before closing at 72,568.45, up 847.27 pts from its previous close.

Buying in IT, Technology, Oil and Gas and Energy stocks kept the market strong.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.36 pc and Small Cap by 0.41 pc.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were Infosys by 7.84 pc to Rs 1612.20, Tech Mahindra by 4.84 pc to Rs 1308.95, HCL Technology by 4.55 pc to Rs 1553.30, TCS by 3.89 pc to Rs 3881.70 and Wipro by 3.88 pc to Rs 465.45.

The losers were Powergrid by 0.97 pc to Rs 239.50, Bajaj Finance by 0.91 pc to Rs 1654, Ultracemco by 0.81 pc to Rs 9823 and HDFC Bank by 0.57 pc to Rs 1639.55.
