Sensex zooms over 700 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday posted huge gains of 787.90 points to 70,372.50 in the opening session, as buying was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) was up 214.40 points to 21,140.40.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 70,540 and 70,110.75 points, respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 21,189.55 and 21,074.45 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap gained 0.71 pc and the Small Cap gained 0.75 pc.

The gainers were Tech Mahindra by 3.15 pc to Rs 1254.75, Infosys by 3.14 pc to Rs 1494.40, HCL Technology by 3.07 pc to Rs 1410.85, Wipro by 2.80 pc to Rs 431, and Bajaj Finance by 2.62 pc to Rs 7448.40.

The losers were Powergrid by 1.86 percent to Rs 232.45, Asian Paints by 0.77 percent to Rs 3219.35, and Nestle India Ltd. by 0.74 percent to Rs 24860.
