Tata Power’s Corporate Centre, Carnac building awarded “IGBC GOLD” rating

Mumbai/ Kolkata, Aug 26 (IBNS): Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always prioritised resource conservation and has been at the forefront of driving numerous sustainability initiatives.

In recognition of this commitment, Tata Power’s Corporate Centre, Carnac building in Mumbai was awarded with “IGBC GOLD” rating, under “Indian Green Building Council’s Green Existing Buildings” category for achieving required green building standards.

 

There are different levels of green building certification like certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum that are awarded in recognition of the level of achievements.


The Gold Certification is awarded to recognise national excellence and is valid for next 3 years.  IGBC Green Existing Buildings O&M rating system addresses green features under the categories such as Site & Facility Management, Water Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Health & Comfort and Innovation.

Speaking on the achievement,  Anil Sardana, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power, said “It is an honour to have been conferred by Green existing building Gold. This award has recognised our efforts towards environment conservation and maintaining quality standards in our operations. At Tata Power, we will continue to strengthen our commitment towards a greener approach and operational excellence”.

Tata Power's Corporate Centre, Carnac building is the 1st establishment within the company to get the Green Certification and the Company has already taken up initiatives to get all the key establishments in Mumbai certified in a phased manner by 2020.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), is a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is to enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025.
