Mumbai/IBNS: Tata Motors is set to launch its the all-new Tata Sierra in India, reviving its iconic 1990s nameplate with a contemporary design, advanced technology and a premium cabin experience.

The SUV enters the competitive mid-size segment, taking on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.

The Tata Sierra has been launched initially with internal combustion engines, while the electric version is slated to arrive shortly. The SUV is priced between ₹12.6 lakh and ₹21.4 lakh (ex-showroom, India) depending on engine and variant, according to the launch announcement.

The Sierra retains its signature upright stance and boxy silhouette but modernises it with slim LED headlamps, a full-width LED light bar, flush door handles, panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch alloy wheels on top trims.

Inside, the SUV features a triple-screen layout with a 12.3-inch digital driver display, 12.3-inch central infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. The cabin is equipped with soft-touch materials, illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system and an electronic parking brake.

Safety systems include Level-2 ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and autonomous emergency braking, along with six airbags, ESC, hill-hold assist and TPMS.

The Sierra will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit for lower variants, and the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine used in the Harrier and Safari. Manual and automatic gearbox options are available.

A dedicated Sierra EV will soon follow, built on the Acti.EV platform and expected to offer a drive range of over 500 km along with fast-charging capability and an all-wheel-drive configuration.

With a strong nostalgic base and modern engineering upgrades, the new Sierra marks Tata Motors’ biggest push yet in the premium SUV arena.
