Tata Steel bags JSPCB awards for environment protection
Jamshedpur, Jun 7 (IBNS): Integrated private sector steel company, Tata Steel Group, was on Friday honoured with the prestigious 'JSPCB' award for commendable work done in the area of environmental protection and improvement on the account of 'World Environment Day'.
The award was announced at a seminar organized by the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) on Friday in Ranchi.
The theme of the seminar was 'Environment Responsibility for Sustainable Development' and it witnessed a rare gathering of dignitaries and honorary guests.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were P P Bhojvaid- Director FRI, Dehradun; H C Gupta- IFS, Director Jharkhand Tribal Development Society, Ranchi; and Satish Sinha, Indian Institute of Coal Management.
The award was presented by A K Mishra, Chairman - Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB).
Satish Singh, Chief Resident Executive, Ranchi -Tata Steel and Shubhanand Mukesh- Head Environment, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur received the award on behalf of Tata Steel.
Expressing his delight, Shubhanand Mukesh- Head Environment, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur said, "Tata Steel has always focused on responsible environmental practices. We are honored to have received this prestigious award, which further highlights our commitment towards Environment protection and communities at large."
According to the officials, Tata Steel has always initiated the best practices to ensure environmental sustainability.
The JSPCB is a statutory authority to ensure proper implementation of the statutes, judicial and legislative pronouncements related to environmental protection within the state of Jharkhand.
