Kolkata: Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has unveiled a major management restructuring alongside the launch of two new business verticals: Shipbuilding and Maritime Systems (SMS) and Safety and Signalling Systems (SSS).

New business verticals: Shipbuilding and safety & signalling

Titagarh is strengthening its shipbuilding division, leveraging its existing warship-approved shipyard and past experience, which includes building vessels for the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and international clients. Saket Kandoi will lead this vertical as Director & CEO.

“We will expand operations, set up a larger yard, and forge strategic alliances,” said Kandoi.

The newly formed SSS division will focus on train control, asset monitoring, and onboard systems to enhance railway safety. Prithish Chowdhary, Deputy Managing Director, will serve as interim CEO. Titagarh, in partnership with Italy’s MERMEC, aims to introduce cutting-edge railway safety solutions.

“We will leverage our expertise to develop world-class safety and signalling systems under ‘Make in India’,” said Chowdhary.

Leadership changes & strategic growth

Anil Kumar Agarwal, currently Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and CEO of Freight Rail Systems (FRS), has been given an expanded role as DMD overseeing both FRS and Passenger Rail Systems (PRS).

“Our goal is to become India’s largest passenger coach manufacturer while also expanding exports,” said Agarwal.

Chowdhary will oversee the growth of SMS and SSS, while corporate functions will be jointly handled by Agarwal and Chowdhary, both reporting to Managing Director Umesh Chowdhary.

Additionally, Titagarh announced a 5 lakh Employee Stock Options (ESOPs) grant at Rs 860 per option to boost employee participation.

"These initiatives will drive Titagarh’s next growth phase, aligning with India's vision of self-reliance and development," said Vice Chairman & MD Umesh Chowdhary.
