Why Swiggy shares jumped over 5% today: Inside its ₹10,000-crore FY31 growth plan

| @indiablooms | Aug 06, 2026, at 02:07 pm

Mumbai/IBNS: Swiggy shares surged more than 5 percent on Thursday after the company unveiled an ambitious five-year growth strategy at its Capital Markets Day 2026, according to media reports.

The stock rose nearly 5.6 percent during intraday trade to touch a high of Rs. 305.10.

The company has set an ambitious target of achieving Rs. 10,000 crore in adjusted EBITDA by FY31, underscoring its focus on profitability alongside expansion.

Rs. 10,000 crore EBITDA target by FY31

Swiggy's five-year roadmap (FY2027–FY2031) aims to generate Rs. 10,000 crore in annual adjusted EBITDA by the financial year ending March 2031, marking a significant turnaround from its current loss-making position.

Instamart to spearhead growth

The company expects Instamart, its quick-commerce business, to be the primary growth driver over the next five years.

Swiggy projects Instamart's Gross Order Value (GOV) to increase four to five times—from around Rs. 28,000 crore in FY26 to nearly Rs. 1.5 lakh crore by FY31.

The company plans to strengthen its quick-commerce presence amid intense competition from Blinkit, Zepto, BigBasket and Flipkart Minutes.

Food delivery business to expand

Swiggy expects its core food delivery business to grow 2.5 to 3.5 times over the next five years.

It is targeting approximately Rs. 5,000 crore in annual adjusted EBITDA from the food delivery segment alone by FY31.

Over 30% annual GOV growth

The company projects more than 30 percent compound annual growth in consolidated Gross Order Value (GOV) through FY31.

Expansion of dark stores

Swiggy plans to continue expanding its network of dark stores while improving merchandising and operational efficiency.

The company also intends to move further towards a first-party inventory model, enabling better inventory control and improved unit economics.

Focus on technology and efficiency

As part of its long-term strategy, Swiggy will invest in technology, AI-driven logistics, automation and supply chain optimisation to enhance customer experience and improve profitability.

Growth beyond food delivery

Besides food delivery and quick commerce, Swiggy sees growth opportunities in businesses such as Dineout and other consumer services as it seeks to diversify its revenue streams.

Roadmap towards profitability

Swiggy's five-year strategy signals a shift from prioritising rapid expansion to building a sustainably profitable business.

The company is betting that India's fast-growing quick-commerce market, supported by its established food delivery operations, will help it emerge as a significantly more profitable consumer internet company by FY31 despite increasing competition.
