Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal impressed with Bengaluru man's suggestions on X for new feature, offers him job

New Delhi/IBNS: Zomato recently introduced a new feature called "Food Rescue" that lets users purchase cancelled food orders at a discount, a move aimed at reducing food waste.

A Bengaluru man’s suggestions to improve the feature impressed Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal so much that he invited him to apply for a job.

The exchange took place on X (formerly Twitter), where Goyal posted a thread detailing the new order cancellation feature.

While many users praised the initiative, one user, Bhanu, stood out with his thoughtful feedback to prevent potential misuse:

1. Exclude cash on delivery (COD) orders.
2. Disallow cancellations when the delivery is within 500 meters of the destination.
3. Limit the feature to prevent users from exploiting discounts by coordinating cancellations.
4. Restrict customers to a maximum of two cancellations per month.

These suggestions caught Goyal’s attention, prompting him to reach out.

"All this and more is already in place. Good thinking, by the way. Who are you and what do you do? Would love to know you more, and see if we can work together. :) DM me please if you wanna chat more," Goyal wrote.

Responding to the CEO’s interest, Bhanu, the X user, replied, “Thanks a lot. I am from Bangalore and regularly use Blinkit. I frequently suggest ways to improve services by tagging your company on Twitter. Always looking to reduce negative impacts and improve service delivery. Currently working as a Product Manager at a startup."
