693 new COVID19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours: Health Ministry

New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian Health Ministry on Monday said 693 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from across India in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry said the number of COVID-19 patients in the country now stands at 4067 and 109 deaths have been reported so far.

"693 new COVID19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 4067 in India out of which 1445 cases are related to Tablighi Jamaat," Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, told media.

Mentioning the need to protect the elderly citizens of the country, he said: "63 per cent of the deaths have been reported among people over 60 years age, 30 per cent in age bracket of 40 to 60 years & 7 per cent victims were below 40 years age."

The disease, which is believed to have first originated from China, has now touched nearly all the countries across the globe.

Meanwhile, India entered its 13th day of lockdown on Monday.
