Bangladesh records significant spike in COVID-19 cases, 8822 recorded in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh recorded a significant spike in COVID-19 cases as 8822 fresh instances were registered in the past 24 hours.

Between 8am Tuesday and 8am Wednesday, the health directorate reported the new cases which took the total to 913,258, reports Dhaka Tribune.

The latest figures show an infection rate of 25.13%. As many as 35,105 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 565 authorized labs – government and private – across the country, the newspaper reported.

During the past 24 hours, 115 deaths were also recorded.

For the past four days, deaths due to COVID-19 remained over 100.

With the latest development, the total number of fatalities reached 14,503 in the country, reports Dhaka Tribune.
