Overwhelming majority of the COVID-19 cases in the country are foreign returnees, declared the Health Ministry of Bhutan on Sunday morning.

Xinhua news agency quoted the Health Ministry statistics stating that out of the 10 new patients, seven are female and three are male, and all of them are recent returnees from West Asian nations, they returned through relief flights that were arranged by the government.

Two of the cases have been quarantined at government facilities of the Paro district while eight have been quarantined at facilities of Thimphu city.

These patients would be later moved to the isolation wards today, informed the Ministry.

The ministry confirmed that the month of May witnessed the highest number of positive cases in the country. Earlier in the month, the ministry had confirmed two positive cases- a 28-year-old man and 24-year-old woman these two were also returnees from the Middle East. What is commendable is that the Himalayan nation has till now conducted more than 16,838 tests.
