Centre removes AIIMS CVO from post

New Delhi, Aug 21 (IBNS): The Health Ministry has removed the Chief Vigilance officer of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Sanjeev Chaturvedi from his post, reports said.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday said that Chaturvedi was "not eligible" for the post.

"He was not at all eligible for the post that he was holding at AIIMS. We were informed that without the approval of the Central Vigilance Commission, nobody can be assigned the post of CVO anywhere. This was brought to our notice, we took cognizance of the same and removed him from the post," Vardhan told media.

However, the move is seen as a violation of the CVC Act since no CVO can be removed by the ministry  without approval from the CVC.
