Coronavirus: Delhi records zero deaths, 35 new cases detected

New Delhi/UNI: For the fourth consecutive day, Delhi reported Zero deaths due to Covid-19 even as the city recorded 55 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the Delhi government's latest health bulletin said on Saturday.

This is the 23rd time when the city has recorded zero deaths in a day since the second wave of Coronavirus began.

Delhi had reported Zero Covid-19 fatality earlier on Friday, Thursday and Wednesday as well, according to the official data.

The daily positivity rate shown a marginal rise at 0.08 per cent from 0.05 recorded on previous day. 70,303 Covid-19 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, the health department stated.

Meanwhile, 63 people recovered from the viral illness in the last 24 hours and 80 individuals remain in home isolation, the data showed.

Total 354 Covid-19 cases remains active in the city, it added.

The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 14,37,929 while the death toll remained at 25,082 government data showed.

The cumulative positively rate in the national capital has been assessed at 5.54 per cent while the case fatality rate (cumulative) is recorded at 1.74 per cent, it added.

Delhi has recorded 23 instances so far where no deaths were reported in a day since the second wave of Covid-19 hit the national capital.

The official data states that on July 18, July 24, July 29, August 2, August 4, August 8, August 11, August 12, August 13, August 16, August 20, August 21, August 22, August 23, August 24, August 26, August 27, August 28, August 29, September 1, September 2, September 3 and September 4 too, no death due to Covid-19 was recorded.

Earlier, the national capital had maintained a streak of five consecutive days, from August 20-24, where no deaths due to Covid-19 were reported. However, the streak was broken on Monday.

Before the second wave, the national capital had recorded zero death on March 2 this year. On that day, the number of single-day infections stood at 217 and the positivity rate was 0.33 per cent.

The second wave swept the city during the April-May period.
