COVID-19: Another central team to visit Bengal today

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) The Centre is sending another central team to Bengal on Monday to take stock of the COVID-19 situation.

According to sources, Bengal is now accounted for 50 Corona deaths as 41 more have been tested positive.

The sources, further said that central teams would also visit Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

The Government on April 25 took strong exception to the accusations of non-implementation of the Lockdown 'in totality' in some states and decided to send central teams to such states.

The Government's decision came amid a central team visiting Bengal.

A senior BJP leader, on condition of anonymity, told UNI: "The Government is committed to implementing the lockdown in truest sense across country and will intervene wherever it is necessary".

Earlier, the 'relation' between Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and State Governor Jagdeep Dhankad became 'critical' with both challenging the other in respect of Constitutional duty and responsibilities during the trying time.

While the Governor had 'questioned' the number of Covid deaths in Bengal and also the 'lesser' number of tests in the state, the Chief Minister alleged that the former was 'intervening unnecessarily'.

Meanwhile, the number of country-wide death toll escalated to 1,373.
