COVID-19: West Bengal reports 2,294 new cases, toll nears 1500 mark

Kolkata/IBNS: With 2,294 fresh infections and 41 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has reached 65,258, including 19,652 active ones, 1,490 deaths and 44,116 discharges, reports said on Wednesday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 2,094 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 67.60 per cent from 66.74 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 8,56,355 samples till date with 17,144 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, state authorities reported that as on Wednesday (July 29) evening, West Bengal had 1,206 broad-based containment zones, out of which 31 were in Kolkata.   

Currently, 3,385 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 32,280 people are under home surveillance in the state.
