New Delhi/IBNS: The national capital logged more than 17,000 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, setting another record in single-day infections since the pandemic stuck in Delhi last year.

The number of fatalities during this period was 104, the highest since November 30.

Delhi's cases have doubled Mumbai's infections which stand at 9,925. Fifty-four people died in Mumbai in the past 24 hours.

The second wave of Covid has hit Delhi hard, with the city logging more than 10,000 cases a day since Sunday.

On Tuesday, the city recorded 13,500 fresh Covid cases over a 24-hour period, taking the total to 7,36,788.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a series of meetings on Thursday, first with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and then with the Health Minister, media reports said.

Delhi has already taken measures to increase medical facilities with the government attaching banquet halls, schools, sports complexes to hospitals in a move to provide an additional 875 beds.
