H1N1 disease spreads in Kashmir, 2 killed
In a press conference Director, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Showkat Zargar told reporters that an alert have been issued in the Kashmir valley after deaths of two patients due to the H1N1 virus.
He also confirmed that 73 patients have contracted the infectious pathogen in recent days.
However, the director said there was no need to panic as preventive measures will be taken to combat against the spread of the disease.
"We cannot stop the virus. But there is no need to panic. People should not unnecessarily rush to hospitals," he said.
With the increasing number of patients testing positive with the H1N1 Virus, authorities issued an advisory asking people to avoid public gatherings and suggested the government to extend the winter break of schools.
The advisory has also advised the affected people to self-impose a quarantine or medical isolation to control spread of the infectious disease.
