Hundreds suffer from fever in Tripura village, no medical help available

Ambassa (Tripura), Apr 21 (UNI): Amidst the heat of political activities hundred of villagers including babies reeling from the grip of fever without any medical assistance over the past 10 days in the remote Kalyan Singh ADC village in the bordering subdivision of Gandacharra in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here.

According to sources, hundreds of villagers in Rajdhan para in the village came under the attack of fever. The poverty-stricken hilly hamlet is almost 70 kilometres from the district headquarters.

The villagers said no medical assistance has been made available to them yet and the only doctor, Debasis Debbarma, and multi-purpose worker Indrajit Choudhury from the local primary health centre remained unavailable.

Later it was revealed that the sub-divisional magistrate-cum-assistant returning officer had appointed 43 health department employees in election work.

The villagers are still waiting for medical help.
