India adds over 24,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 99.5 lakh

New Delhi/IBNS: India, which is witnessing a slide in positive cases over the last several weeks, on Thursday added little over 24,000 Covid-19 cases taking the overall tally to cross 99.5 lakh.

In the last 24 hours, the country has witnessed 355 deaths apparently due to the infection.

As a result, the Covid-19 toll has peaked to 1,44,451 now.

The total number of recovery has further improved to 94,89,740 with 33,291 Covid-19 patients successfully battling the contagion in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Maharashtra's Marathwada region reports 256 fresh cases

The eight districts of Maharashtra's Marathwada region reported 256 fresh cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, informed health authorities on Thursday. 

The region also witnessed three deaths due to the ailment during the same period. 

Telangana records 509 new cases, 3 fatalities until Wednesday night

Telangana registered 509 new Covid-19 cases until 2000 hours on Wednesday taking the total infection count to 2,79,644 so far.

Three fresh fatalities due to Covid-19 were recorded by the state in the past 24 hours pushing the overall death toll to 1,505 as on date translating a case fatality rate of 0.53 per cent as against the National death rate of 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Thursday.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 517 people have recovered from Coronavirus state-wide taking the total number of recoveries thus far to 2,70,967 constituting a recovery rate of 96.89 per cent while the National recovery rate was 95.3 per cent.

The state now has 7,172 active cases including 5,063 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
