India continues to see dip in COVID cases, reports 43,071 new infections

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 43,071 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, slightly lower than Saturday. The Asian country recorded 955 deaths during the same period.

The country crossed a grim milestone of 4 lakh COVID deaths on Friday, pushing it to the third position in terms of total fatality globally after the US and Brazil.

Meanwhile, active cases have declined to 4.85 lakh in India and constitute 1.59 per cent of total infections.

Over 52,000 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking total recoveries to over 2.96 crore till date.

Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the new infections for the 52nd consecutive day, the Union health Ministry stated on Sunday.

This brings the recovery rate to 97.09 per cent. The daily positivity rate is also reported at 2.34 per cent - less than 5 per cent for 27 straight days.

On the vaccination front, the country has so far administered 35.12 crore doses, the health ministry said.
